As teachers we view our roll as guides who nurture critical thinking rather than simply delivering instruction. We:
❖ Actively engage and talk with children eliciting questions, ideas, and interests
❖ Help children investigate questions and test ideas
❖ Provide scaffolding in all developmental areas
❖ Create themed provocations that support children's interests and developmental needs
In the classroom and outdoors we follow seasonal themes. Some of those are:
Fall: apples, farms, seasons, pumpkins, and gratitude.
Winter: hibernation, arctic animals, ice and snow, space
Spring: water cycle, planting seeds, weather, bugs and insects
And many more depending on the interest of the group.
My teaching methods are inspired the Reggio Emillia and Waldorf philosophies. Additionally, I follow the year-long nature-study curriculum “Exploring Nature with Children” by Lynn Seddon, and Jolly Phonics.
